Mr and Mrs Channon -updated version. (20th August 2024)
I was honoured to read the 16 characteristics of Love
“Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice, but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NLT)
“The smallest family will become a thousand people, and the tiniest group will become a mighty nation. At the right time, I, the LORD, will make it happen.” Isaiah 60:22 (NLT)
My few words at the reception.
(Noughts and Crosses)
This is the last speech…
This final speech lasts less than 3 minutes. I hope you do too.
Today is about Tom and Ruby, but Jackie and I want you to know we’ve just won a game of Noughts and Crosses.
We’ve got three children, and they have all put their cross in the right place to live life in all of its fullness. (John 10:10) Three in a row. Three hatched and matched. That makes us winners too.
Life has taught me that:
If you lose wealth -it’s no major loss.
If you lose health -it’s a very difficult loss.
If you lose the love of family and friends -that’s the most significant loss of all.
Life is not all high mountain top experiences. You need friends and family to help you in the low points and valleys.
It is therefore wonderful to have met some of Ruby’s family. They have been so very easy to talk to from day one. We look forward to getting to know them all even better in the years ahead.
This room is also full of members of the family of God. We’re delighted that all three of our children are married with someone who shares their faith. This has eternal significance. A supportive cord of three strands, is not easily broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
Let’s go now and enjoy time with family and friends.
