Christian Operating System Errors (August 2025)
I offer error messages written using my limited knowledge of computing and theology, to create metaphors for some Christian errors.
These Christianity OS error messages have been generated using Windows 11. Similar errors are exhibited by all. Including Apple and Lie nuts eaters.
DJC01: Theological error
Programs need to be interpreted on the go, or assembled in advance, to be able to run on their computer processor.
People have to interpret and translate scripture to help it make sense for life in their context.
The Bible? OT Hebrew, NT Greek. Literal and paraphrased English translations. We need God’s help to interpret scripture and apply it meaningfully and with purpose.
DJC02: Discernment error
Malicious software comes in many forms such as; viruses, worms, Trojan horses, logic bombs, ransomware, spyware, adware, wipers, keyloggers…
Christians can be susceptible to malicious worldly messaging often labelled; superior, modern, intellectual, scientific, successful, gratifying…
Our focus on selfish worldly priorities, distracts us from an awareness of God’s love. God wants us to live life in all if its fullness.
DJC03: Spiritual error
We don’t know the next move to be made by hackers. Where might it come from? The World Wide Web is quite big! What form of attack? What purpose? Anyone who thinks their system is completely secure has become part of the problem.
People are naturally in search of something greater, more powerful, more exciting and beyond everyday experience. We can be drawn into ritual and forces with power beyond our control.
There is only one way, truth and life. One almighty all powerful God. The easiest routes may not lead to the best destination.
DJC04: Discipleship error
Device drivers enable different parts of a computer system to relate with one another. New hardware, new driver to install.
People can be emotionally driven to work tirelessly to reach worldly success, satisfaction and stimulating pleasures. Driven to get treasure and status, that is so easily lost. Are we driven by the right things?
Prayer, Bible reading, nature, engaging worship and quiet moments can draw us into relationship with the very presence of God.
DJC05: Reconciliation error
A Computer Operating System facilitates communication with software and hardware to make them accessible and of value to the user.
Have we lost our purpose and connection with God?
The presence of God can feel very distant during times of trouble, ill health and grief. A focus on self can take us on a path far away from God’s plan for our lives. I have been in that place.
Christians can know a God of forgiveness, love and salvation. This is exemplified repeatedly in the Bible despite the despicable things people can do to one another.
We must love God and neighbour with all of our soul strength and cognitive capacity. Our skills, knowledge and understanding can lead us to a very wise and rational relationship with God.
Christian faith can help us respond to the worldly challenges of evil, warfare, suffering, narcissism… Our failure to share. Our inability to form communities of equity. These demonstrate the limits of Godless human capacity and our need for forgiveness and love.
